Plasma Pen

Lifts and Tightens Skin By Stimulating Fibroblast Cells To Produce Collagen

Plasma Pen

Plasma Pen Resurfacing

The Plasma Pen is an FDA minimally invasive treatment that tightens and smooths skin by stimulating the production of collagen.  It uses a pen-like device fitted with a tiny needle, which converts electrical energy into energized nitrogen gas, simultaneously heating and disrupting the deeper layers of skin. This is known as “fibroblasting,” because it stimulates cells called fibroblasts. Fibroblasts are the most common cells of connective tissue in the body and the only cells that can make Type III collagen. However, most fibroblasts are inactive and only produce collagen with special stimulation. This is what the Plasma Pen does.

The Plasma Pen stimulates a series of specific points around a line or wrinkle, producing an immediate tightening of the skin. This creates a lifting effect that smooths the skin and makes it look younger. Improvements are long term and in some cases permanent.

The Plasma Pen can be used to treat:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead lines
  • Acne scars
  • Jowl lines
  • Lines around the mouth and nose
  • Neck lines
  • Smoker’s or lipstick lines
  • Stretchmarks
  • Eyelids

Even loose skin on the arms or abdomen.

Is Plasma Right For Me?

Plasma Pen skin resurfacing is suitable for most people, especially in hard to treat areas around the eyes and mouth. It may not be right, however, for some darker skin types or for people prone to scarring or skin thickening after an injury. Our staff will evaluate you thoroughly and explain the treatment in detail. They will also give you general ideas of the types of outcomes you can expect.

What Should I Expect With The Treatment?

Before treatment, our trained staff will go over with you the areas to be treated. The Plasma Pen treatment typically has very little discomfort (some patients even fall asleep). The pen is used on targeted areas, you may feel a little tingling as heat is transferred to the deep layers of skin. In areas where the skin is thin (such as eyelids), there may be some minor discomfort, but this can be addressed with a numbing cream if needed. The length of the procedure depends on the size of the area being treated.

What Are The Results?

You’ll start seeing the effects of Plasma Pen treatment quickly, with some immediate tightening of the skin, with continued improvement for up to three months as the fibroblasts generate new collagen. In some cases, an additional treatment session may be needed for optimum results.

As your skin initially heals from the treatment, you may notice some small dry spots, which typically disappear in about a week. This is normal.

For most people, the skin tightening and smoothing continues long term, with some areas having permanent improvement.
