#WhatIsWednesday: What is Permanent Makeup?

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is a technique that micro implants color pigments one to two millimeters under the skin to enhance facial features. It can also be used to camouflage scars and correct uneven skin pigmentation. The process has some of the characteristics of tattooing, but there are differences.

How long does permanent makeup last?

The colors from permanent makeup typically last one to three years. Touch ups can prolong the colors.

What areas can be treated with permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is mostly used for the brows and lips. Areas include lip liner, ombre lips, lip blush, full color lips, hybrid brows, powder brows, and ombre brows.

How is permanent makeup applied?

The treatment begins with the technician marking precise artistic lines in the areas being treated. The technician then traces over the lines with instruments that insert pigment under the skin.

How long does it take to heal?

Healing typically takes one to two weeks.

How much does permanent makeup cost?

Treatments typically range from $300 to $600 depending on the area being treated.
