Rapid Covid-19 Testing
Zero Gravity now offers on-site Rapid Oral COVID-19 testing with results in just 15 minutes!
We’ve added a vital new service to our repertoire at Zero Gravity. As a means to enhance safety and provide a more convenient avenue for testing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re now offering the Oral Rapid™ SARs-Cov-2 Antigen Rapid Test at our practice.
Rather than waiting up to two days with other forms of testing, the Oral Rapid test can deliver results in only 15 minutes!
How does the Oral Rapid test work?
The Oral Rapid Antigen test identifies viruses in secretions inside the nose and throat. It’s able to alert to the presence of the virus by detecting proteins from the virus’s surface. The capabilities of this test are different from polymerase chain reaction testing kits, which look for genetic material in a sample of mucus from a person’s nose, throat, or saliva. It utilizes the same technology used in most doctor’s offices for rapid strep testing.
Our Oral Rapid Antigen Test has been validated and manufactured in our high complexity CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) licensed laboratory in Florida. It has not been reviewed or cleared by the FDA currently.
When will the Oral Rapid test be available at Zero Gravity?
Testing hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Noon to 3 p.m. on weekends. Tests will be available by appointment only.
Where will the Oral Rapid test be administered?
Please arrive to our office at your designated appointment time and then call (859) 344-3250 to let us know you’re here. A member of our team will then come to your car to administer the test.
How much does the Oral Rapid Antigen Test cost?
The cost for the test is $130. Acceptable methods of payment include cash, Visa, MasterCard, and HSA.
Is antibody testing also available at Zero Gravity?
We also offer antibody testing at our office with 15-minute results as well! These serology tests are FDA-approved to detect antibodies in your blood, which may reveal if you had a past infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. Antibodies are proteins that help fight off infections and can provide immunity against getting that disease again. This test requires a blood draw.
The cost for the antibody test is $100. We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, and HSAs.
Which of these two tests should I take?
When wondering which test to take, it’s important to note the following: 48 hours after exposure, the rapid antigen test is the appropriate option. Antibody tests require the drawing of a blood sample that should be taken 14 days after exposure or seven days after symptoms subside.
Antibody tests are generally not used to diagnose a current COVID-19 infection, except in instances in which viral testing is delayed. An antibody test may not be successful if you have a current COVID-19 infection because it can take 1–3 weeks after the initial infection for your body to make the antibodies.
